Hybrid - "Morning Sci-Fi"

The dynamite trio from the UK are back with their new album...and they brought
some friends along for this more relaxing ride. Morning Sci-Fi is a far
depature from the dance heavy beats and breaks from their debut album Wide
Angle
...what they offer in this is definite proof of their musicianship.
Instead of club track after club track (not that that's a bad thing with the
occasional orchestral movement, they give you a taste of the ecclectic. This
album proves they can sample, they can orchestrate, they can sing (with
excellent vocals provided by newcomer Adam Taylor), and they can rock (True To
Form track features a mysterious and ueberdeep bass line by Peter Hook). It has
a marked 'live' quality if you will. While I admit, there aren't as many
euphoric moments as in Wide Angle (hooks on Dreaming your Dreams, Finished
Symphony, and Snyper, for example), this album feels much more polished overall.
Each song seamlessly flows into the next, leaving the listener at odds as to
which genre will they carouse through next...They'll hit you with a vocally
driven rock track, then slow it down with a teched out ballad, then hit you
with some House beatz...
Definitely an awe-inspiring work to be gauged by anyone will to take it on.
If that wasn't enough, it also comes with a DVD with some pretty neat interviews
with the guys themselves, a couple of live performances of their newer work, and
a documentary about their nation-wide jaunt across the US with Moby on the
Play Tour. A must buy for fans of Contemporary, Breaks (old and nu),
and the like.
