The moniker
djplaeskool. So, back in 2003, a friend and I were planning a little get-together at his parents place. I had just purchased my first set of turntables and a number of assorted vinyls, so he thought it'd be cool to setup shop and provide a little atmosphere. Well, at that time, I didn't have a hallowed DJ name. We bounced some ideas back and forth, but nothing stuck out. Riding in his car after stopping by a Wendy's (where he managed) I noticed something stuck to the bottom of my shoe...a sticker from one of those "For Kids 3 and under" toys, with the company logo plastered on the top..."PLAYSKOOL"
Well, I had my name...with a slight alteration (ae), because let's face it, the ash grapheme is cool.
Never from the start did I have the intention of doing this as an actual profession. Some say that's no way to operate, but believe me when I say I cherish this as a recreation. I used to do this moreso for myself than for others, but you all are a major motivation, and I thank you all profusely for the support over the years.
