4/4/03 - 4/4/07!

To be honest, it's kind of strange.
I've been expending various degrees of time and energy making music on a recreational basis for four years...
I see how far I've come...
yet I never know how far I can go.
There's no finish line, and I think that's a good thing.

I love the challenge this has presented itself to be.
I love meshing things in unison. I love browsing gigabyte after gigabyte of sounds, putting two and two together in desperate hope that they make four...
...and if I knew there wasn't anyone listening, I'd probably still be going strong.

I don't want fame. Maybe a little fortune...
I don't want pressure. Just a little feedback...
I don't want boundaries, just my own chance at creation...
and I think I've been somewhat successful so far...

...and I think that power of creation, even if it's something as simultaneously mindful and mindless, trivial and earth-shatteringly important as music, is what draws us all closer to perfection.

I thank all of you for your kindness, support, and most importantly, your ears over these past four years...
過去の四年にわたる私のファンがあることをありがとう御座います。私の音楽を今のところ楽しみ、未来にそれを楽しみ続けることを望む。

...and now that that's out of the way, let's groove a lil' bit.

DJplaeskool - Truth As Shibboleth // Original // Balearic Trance // 7:37

"Empyrean" in Dante's Paradiso is described as a place beyond human comprehension and beyond physical existence...the abode of God. Countless angels circumnavigate the three concentric circles of the highest heaven. There, he contemplates, and comes to the realization that no human intellect can decipher it. When moved by the love that joins Father, Son, and Spirit, all chaos becomes order...all wisdom becomes folly...all TRUTH is AS SHIBBOLETH...

(This will probably be my last post of music up until Borealiss's release. As of now, I'm looking at July/August release. Stay tuned...)

Borealissé Preview. Drum & Bass in this place.

Heyo.
Well, I figured I would try to keep much of Borealissé under wraps until launch...
but you know me, I like to give a little of this and that...

So, here's a special preview track in its entirity.
Hope you like it.

The Next Age

I've been working a lot. Luckily, not all of it was for IBM.
I've divided my musical attention all over the board in multiple facets.
Working not only on Borealissé, but a second House Mix, a DnB Mix, a Trance Mix, and some extra original songs in updated applications.

You know, each 'age' of djplaeskool has started out with me getting back to basics...
Back to my first love, so to speak.
I shall harken this new dawn with a new interlude, and self-proclaimed theme song for myself...

2007年、明けましておめでとうございます!

豚は・・・豚は「ぶぅぅ、ぶぅぅ」を言う・・・か?w

Happy New Year everyone.
Hope it's been a great one so far.
I just wanted to wish you and yours the best for 2007.

Also, I've added the Nagare streaming player and download links directly to the music page, I've updated the legal page, and...

I'd like to announce (probably my only) my major project for 2007:
Borealissé

Check the dedicated page for a short clip of what lies to come.

Preppin' for the future

I'm gonna be doing some clean up and catching up on the site leading up to the new year.
I apologize if things haven't seemed as tidily kept as of recent, I hope to rectify that this week.
Because of webspace issues, I may also upgrade my account, as I'd prefer not to take stuff off the site...
We'll see in the coming days...

Also got a new project in the works for 2007, which I'll also be announcing on Jan. 1...
Stay tuned.

地上では、平和が、神様に喜ばれる人々にあるように。
Have a very safe and happy Holiday.

Flow.

Nagare is Live.
Download the album as a whole (.rar), or download track at a time.

Aggressive...
Regressive...
...call it what you will. This is a departure from the direction my music as a whole has gone.
Much more raw and minimal, more focused on the beat, Nagare is what can be essentially defined as "three steps forward, two steps back."

Despite all that, I really hope you enjoy.

In addition, I've added streaming music players to the Music page.
You can now preview DJplaeskool before downloading...
or just listen all you want in the player.

Almost done
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get the player done as well as I'd hoped.
Been really busy with other stuff in recent weeks.
I have been doing some closed testing on it, and it chokes and dies when it gets too full...
So what I'll most likely do is create multiple launchable players either per 'era' of plaeskool, or per genre.
You know, one for Remixes, one for Original, one exclusively for FFXI stuff...
I should have it done in the this week or so.

And now for something a little different
Hey there everyone.
Stopping by to drop a couple of things on ya. For these two, we're gonna pull back just a little but and roll with some things of a slighty more specified nature...

DJplaeskool - The Kidnap of Persephone // Original // Minimal Drum n' Bass

I can't really explain much on this one. It's a little experimental number I put together.
It symbolizes a spectral train, conducted by Hades, carrying Persephone into the Underworld.
Somewhere between upbeat and dirge-like, the droning bass and steady rhythm offset the somber keyboard chord.

DJplaeskool - カエデの星夜見 (Kaede Stargazing) // FFXI Remix // Nu Jazz

To counter the first tune, this one's a little low key number, using some ripped jazzy sounds, the more seperated highlights of "Gustaberg," and some constructed string pads to give it that night-time ambience...
This song tells the story of a dream, the stars above, and a near nightmarish end...
The blog entry highlights in more detail the visual I used.

That's about it for now peeps.
I'm still working on somewhat of a redesign/reogranization of the site.
I hope to have it prepared sometime in the next couple months or so...

Until next time...

Email me (link to the left) and tell me what you think.

Site Announcement

A site dedicated to the Decrying the Ellipsis release will open this Saturday.
Then, all will be revealed.

I'm also going to take a little break after the release to clear my head and get some ideas brewing to continue recreating the FFXI mixes as I'd promised...

So don't worry, you are not forgotten.

Roundin' out 05'
Heyo folks.

Back once again for another update. This time an original piece takes the stage.

DJplaeskool - Sylphymn // Original // Break Trance

This song is inspired by the "Falling" dream. You know that one...where you basically just fall and wake up on impact...
With this, I opted not to portray the impact, but at the end, it simply fades away, as if there's no ground, simply sky.

I'm hoping to have a couple more pieces done by months end, so keep checking in.

It begins...actually, it really began 3 weeks ago
Crossposted from 慰めと及び無言の主題

One to start everything anew with.

Dissonance 'Neath the Great Tree // FFXI Remix // Liquid Funk

-Working through this gave me the inspiration to redo the mixes of old
-The word dissonance is in there for a reason. Minor chords, along with recreated bits of the original Heavens Tower melody, both on key and off. Bass is sinusoidal for effect.
-Liquid Funk, there's not much movement to the piece, so some might be bored.
-Don't expect other remixes to be out any time soon. This is just to whet the palette, and to give me time to try to get ProTools working...It's not a fan of my AMD architecture, so I may end up actually spending some money to get this stuff workin'.

In other news...I'm still not sure if I want to mess with the site...
It's worked well for the time being...and I maintain my enjoyment of simplicity...
Oh well, we'll see...

Something New, Something Used
So...
I began using Cakewalk SONAR as a change of pace...
and I must say, I'm quite impressed with the product. In fact, I may make a switch to it, from ACID Pro 5 as my primary tool for organizing produced chaos, as this seems to have much more potential...
First I actually need to purchase a copy so I have access to all the goodies...and so I can actually utilize the sounds and music and everything else in program as opposed to recording/exporting it for orchestration elsewhere...
anyways...

End Product:

DJplaeskool - Stratagem // Original // Breakbeat

Consider this tender as an honorarium to all those electronic producers that inspired and continue to inspire me and my music.
This one's for you...
and all my fans...
'cause I know you're out there...
If there are any breakers in the house, I implore you to get down...

Fresh for '05
Back once again.

I'd like to start off by thanking all of you who have sent me emails over the past couple months.
It keeps me vitalized, knowing that I'm appreciated in some sense. Though I don't do this professionally, I do try my best.

Second, I have finally finished college...yay, happyhappy BSCIS, now I get to find a REAL job.

On another, "action-packed with awesome" note, I am currently working with a group of producers and a label in the UK on an independent music game project.
This will occupy a great deal of my efforts for a while, so I most likely wono't have any major updates to this site until the prioject is over and information is at least made public.

If you still want to keep updated with my meanderings on a quasi-semi-weekly basis on my most informal of informal Blog.

I'll finish by saying Thank You All. ThankYouThankYouThankYou for supporting my efforts. I'll be back around here when things calm down.

'Tis the season...
Heyo folks.
Just wanted to drop in and leave a few things for ya.

1) Original - Domani
This is the product (or should I say by-product) of the depths of insomnia.
Maybe too psychadelic for it's own good...

2) Original - Cassia
I was feeling especially more mellow and musical when this one was produced.
It's sorta epic, sorta garage, all house. I think this is one of my better works. You'll probably think so too...

3) Remix - And To All, A Good Night
You know what time of year it is...and I just felt like celebrating it a little.
Turn your bass down a little, it's REALLY lo-fi. I was going for that quasi-DJ Shadow feel...
Not too sure if I got it though...

That's all for now.

To everyone, have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year~!

Hay guys! Sorry for not updating in recent weeks...
End of apologies.

Now, there are a couple of points of business in this update:

Number 1) Music

Both of these pieces aren't too new, but new to most of you, so enjoy if you want to...
-Releasssssse
So, there's this guy who goes by the moniker Beatdrop who made this hardcorre DnB track called Pressssssure...
I liked it, a lot...therefore I remixed it.
I felt, for a change of pace from the original, a dark downtempo trip-hop track would be suitable. So there ya have it...

-Double A version 1.5
Needless to say, I'm a little disappointed that D.J.Amuro (TAKA?) decided to name his new track on IIDX 11: RED "AA"...
but I ain't gonna hate...
Anyways, this is the next chapter in the continuing legend of Double A...
This time, it's a lot heavier, a little less orchestral, and more in line with A's original melody.
Reaction on bemanistyle.com to this has so far been love/hate. While it was middle of the road in v1, clear side hae been taken...
They either like the new, heavier version, or they don't quite like the departure from A's original feel...but hey, it's a remix...
and not just that, it's stilla work in progress...so I hope you like this little update to it.

Number 2) Reviews

Be it far from me to actually do this thing at a music store called "Purchasing a CD", I actually went out of my way last month to support the efforts of two great artists...
This month, I've done two more mini reviews. One for Orbital's Blue Album and one for Fatboy Slim's Palookaville. Both are great. Check them out.

...and speaking of out. I'm out.
See you all when I see you all.

Next update project: Personal Profile. Not enough people know that I'm a large black person who lives near Atlanta...
So I plan to rectify that.
Ciao.

私の怠惰・・・強かった・・・

Sorry for the delay...
I'm lazy...guilty as charged...but there were some other things I was waiting for...none of which happened...so there you go. End of story.
Anyways, on with the content...
These are all the result of the Bemanistyle.com Remix Contest 1.5

Double A (Amuro Aeternum) - Clint Mansell with the Kronos Quartet / D.J. Amuro remixed by DJplaeskool
Remix/quasi-mashup...therefore ineligible. From the feedback I got on this one, I'm going to go back and rework it...a lot.
It's a light merging of A by D.J. Amuro (from Beatmania IIDX 7th Style) and Lux Aeternum by Clint Mansell (from the Requiem for a Dream Motion Picture Soundtrack)
Well call this Double A v1.01a...hurhur

Beautiful Days (70/30 Loveliness Cut) - Fantastic Plastic Machine remixed by DJplaeskool
a remix of one of my favorite songs from Beatmania IIDX 6th Style ~NSC~
"Where'd the '70/30' come from?" you may ask...well...this a largely a manual effort on my part...perhaps 70% manual.
A good deal of the fading and scratching is manual straight from my cheapo Newmark 1520s and Stanton PRO-30 Xfader...
Throw in some random "beautiful" quote and booyeah, remix ahoy.
I almost entered this one, until I made...

Rainbow Flyer (Polychromatic Amalgam Mix) - dj TAKA remixed by DJplaeskool
Yeah, the name is pretty long-winded, but it sounds cool...so, にゃ σ(^◇^;)
This is a reproduction from Rainbow Flyer by dj TAKA (from Beatmania IIDX 8th Style arcade only, console release 18.11.04)
This is a somewhat more melodic take on this song. Is's broken into three movements, each built around a slightly altered version of the slow jazz organ track.
Hope you like 'em...

Expect more Bemani remixes, and once FFXI:Chains of Promathia (プロマシアの呪縛) is released, I'm gonna trawl the BGMs from potentials...
So that's about it for now...

EDIT: OCT 2, 2004:
The Sweetest Savage project has been temporarily placed on hiatus.
I'm working on a couple other things at the moment and have just recently overcome a major creative mental block...
So the update will be taking place later than sooner, but don't give up hope...
Keep checking back and I'll be sure to keep you all posted.

Thanks
-DJplaeskool

In with the old, In with the new as well
Two goodies for my peoples...
Exhibit A: Just Wark It
This one has been available exclusively on ffxionline.com for a long time now...
Now I suppose everyone should be given a chance to listen...
I used a piano rendition from the Fainal Fantasy II piano soundtrack...
kinda breaky, all bouncy...and as for the sample in the beginning, I don't know if Blue Note will like the publicity or feel the need to pursue legal action...lol

Exhibit B: Sorrows Relieved
This is a mix of one of the more moving pieces in FFXI...
This bgm is a staple for the more emotionally driven cutscenes only, so you don't get to hear it all to often...
too bad it's also one of the best songs on the FFXI soundtracks. Hope you enjoy this as well

...edit: May 22: Is it fixed yet? ;3
...edit2:May 22: OK, I think I've got the solution...don't use Brinkster input. Just stop being lazy and do it myself and ftp home page updates manually...

Time reversal and unitarity in the frozen Gaussian approximation for semiclassical scattering

The time reversal and unitarity properties of the semiclassical frozen Gaussian approximation for the propagation of time dependent wave functions are explored. It is found that propagation backwards in time is the adjoint operation to propagation forward in time. This basic property of exact quantum propagation holds exactly in the frozen Gaussian approximation. Unitarity is also demonstrated for frozen Gaussian propagation within the stationary phase approximation. This latter result holds only as long as a prefactor is included in the frozen Gaussian approximation. This point is significant since this prefactor is neglected in many frozen Gaussian variations, and its inclusion can require additional computational effort. The time reversal and unitarity results can be combined to prove the very useful, but nonobvious result that time reversed propagation is the inverse of propagation forward in time in the frozen Gaussian approximation, under the same conditions for which the unitarity property holds.

Don't disturb other players with Step Vibrations...

Just wanted to pop in a little more music...

This one I've been workin' on fro a while...
Xenon (Plaeskool Elemental Mix) is a US Club mix of one of the best Songs ever to come out of the Bemani games in a while. Xenon by Mr.T is featured in the Konami Games DDRMAX2: Dance Dance Revolution 7th Mix (US and JP versions I believe) and Beatmania IIDX 8th Style. The original version of the song is an extremely fast paced and synth driven piece of hard euro house. The mix is a slower, more groovable track layed on that oh so recognizable US club beat. I also left in the original 4 on the floor kick and enveloped it so you get the hits but little resonance in the end, so it still drives rather quickly.
Enjoy...

Alright, alright... So, I know what most of you are thinking... "Hey...what the heck is up with your stuff DJ...?
It's up one day, then down the next, then 404, then Brinkster Error1500..."

Well...
A bitter combination of billing issues, Brinkster moving their Data and Mail Servers, and an upcoming renewal of my domain registration have wrecked havoc on djplaeskool.com for the past couple weeks...
but everything should be back to normal and operating according to standard procedure...

Anyways...
I'm gonna postpone the philanthropy remix competition for a bit (thanks to those who did, in fact donate a little somethin' somethin')...
I'm gonna be MAD busy with school and FFXI until I graduate...
School and FFXI...kinda funny ain't it...
Anyways...
I got some more stuff for y'all to check out...

Clashin' is an homage to my personal favorite Nintendo game ever, Clash at DemonHead...
I figured a good 'ole 4 on the floor house beeat complements the tune well...hope you like it...

The Lore WAS another homage, but now I consider it a eulogy...
If you keep abreast of JP/KR MMORPGs, then you may know that NCSoft (makers of the wildly popular Lineage games) is in the middle of a financial downturn and had to cut some games off completely...and on the chopping block was Shining Lore.
Kinda like a 3D Ragnarok Online...only more fun...
I played the chinese beta version of cSL for about 5 months back in 2002 before it went live in Asia...
The original developers, Phantagram, sold the rights to NCSoft after suffering much financial panic after a few unsuccessful XBox game ventures...and it was all downhill from there...
I made this one pretty pop-py cause it was a rather cheerful game in essence...
too bad it is no more...

You'll Never Know is a quasi-Ambient remix of "Roaming Sheep" from The supplemental Soundtrack to Final Fantasy III (NOT Final Fantasy III US, which is really Final Fantasy VI) entitled Final Fantasy III:Eternal Legend of the Wind. Written and Orchestrated by the Legendary Nobuo Uematsu. If you're not a fan of Ambient/Trance/whatnot, you might not dig this one...

Kanawa: Kemono no Gaiden has a pretty long and indepth story behind...so I'll spare you most of the details...
If you are into pen & paper D&D, like I am, then you may know that Wizards of the Coast released a guide called Oriental Adventures which expounds on the D&D ruleset with many things taken from the Legend of the Five Rings games. Anyways, Long story short, they have a race called the Hengeyokai which, as opposed a person shifting into animals (ie, Druid) is an animal which can shift into a person...odd indeed...

Well...that's it from me...
Cheers to all my fans and supporters...
Peace-out

Hallelujah! My Parents Have Emerged from the Dark Ages!

Armed with DSL web access and a fairly up to speed computer, I can get some stuff done that I hadn't planned on doing until the end of my 'vacation'...
Things like the following...

I was gonna save it until later, but I gotta put it up...
(My Own) Vision of Flight...
A little house, a little Trance, a few Breaks...it's got versatility...
Hope you Enjoy!

Happy Holidays...and...
Viva La Pacific Northwest >.>

::Walks into the room with oversized scissors and cuts the big red ribbon::
Huzzah!
::Throws confetti::

As some may have noticed, I'm finished (for the most part) with the site redesign...
I had to make the decision to postpone the Dreamweaver design because the way it was running, it wasn't displaying on Netscape, HotJava, Opera, or Avant browsers...and I like compatibility.
So, for now at least, I'm gonna pimp it with this raw HTML/Frame design. I'll have a non-frame version sometime early next year 'cause I know some of you are accessibility W3C fans...

Anyways...

I realized, a little while ago, that maintaining this site costs more than my cell phone bill per month...so I added the Paypal Donation button off to your left in the NavBar. If your heart so desires, drop a buck or two (or twenty) into the bucket =^.^=
Every month, Starting in January, I will email the most giving philanthropist (minimum donation requirement $10) and make a custom remix of any song they wish. More Details will follow...

That's it for that...
Me myself? I've been busy, busy, busy...
I'm not trying to neglect you all or anything...I've just gotta prioritize (man!). I'm gonna graduate from college this upcoming summer...and from there...who knows...
Haven't been on FFXI for about a month or so (sorry and 'sup to all my TMV gangstas)... I may pop in this weekend...
I've also been dabbling, a small bit, into M̖](Nobunaga's Ambition: Online) PC Beta. It's set in a feudal Japan setting and plays much like how I thought FFXI should have played...
I'll have more stuff about it once I get the Games section up and running...

Got a couple new songs up...
Strawberry Slide: The Second Intermission was inspired by the song "Strawberry Letter 23" by The Brothers Johnson. One of my roommates got the movie Jackie Brown from NetFlix a couple weeks ago (Tarrantino is a genius) and this song, as well as many others from the 70s is on its soundtrack, so I decided to pay a little homage....
Da Drop is my first venture into one of my favorite musical genres: Drum n' Bass. I have many DnB mp3s and 12" vinyls in my collection and they're a staple at most of my live gigs. I'm not sure what about Drum and Bass music gets me into that zone, but once the beat kicks and the bass drives, I'm fargone...
Anyone in the Atlanta Area who wants to listen to great DnB, tune into Album 88.5 - WRAS Atlanta at Midnight - 2am on Saturdays. They play a DnB mix show called Subterrainean and every week, it never fails to impress...

anyways...I thought I'd give it a shot as I usher in this new era of DJplaeskool.com...

what else....
...
...oh yeah!
My Xmas vacation is gonna be pretty cool. My folks live up in Tacoma, WA (while I hold it down here in the ATL) and I'm gonna be up there from the 19th until Jan 2...
My mom want to take a family trip up into Canada, and I figure myself to be a man of many travels and adventures, so it oughtta be an educating experience...

That's about it from me...
Hope you enjoy the new Site....
